Trophies

The Chevrolet Corvette Trophy program was instigated by Zora Arkus-Duntov. He intended for it to stimulate Corvette racing activities. Mr. Duntov was very involved with this program as he personally approved the design each year.

General Motors supplied one of these trophies to every Corvette Club that was registered with Chevrolet Motor Division (clubs were registered through Corvette News Magazine). The trophy was then awarded by that Corvette Club to an outstanding member. The Chevrolet Corvette Trophy program ran from 1959 to 1969.

Corvette trophies and the promos that were mounted on them can get very confusing. Since these trophies were distributed by Chevrolet at the end of the calendar year, many of them had the following year Corvette promo mounted on them. Therefore, the year of the trophy doesn't usually coincide with the year of the promo. Here's a list to help keep them straight.

  • 1959 Trophy = 1959 Gold Plated Convertible
  • 1960 Trophy = 1959 Gold Plated Convertible
  • 1961 Trophy = 1961 Gold Plated Convertible
  • 1962 Trophy = 1963 Silver/Red Coupe
  • 1963 Trophy = 1964 Silver/Silver Convertible
  • 1964 Trophy = 1965 Silver/Gray Coupe
  • 1965 Trophy = 1966 Silver/Gray Convertible
  • 1966 Trophy = 1967 Silver/Gray Convertible
