The scale models that collectors classify as 1956 Corvettes actually have a 1955 Corvette front end. The rear end of the car resembles a 1956 Corvette. These scale models were manufactured by PMC (Product Miniature Company, Inc.). The plastic body and interior was molded as one piece. These cars did not have contrasting interior colors. The clear plastic 2 spoke steering wheel was the same as the 1953-1955 models. Most 1956s also had a windshield like the 1953-1955 models (the exception is some Yellow 1956s had a Green tinted windshield). The grille and headlights were painted silver. There should not be a "Corvette" decal on the nose. The wheels/hubcaps had more detail than the 1953-1955s and were made of white plastic. These cars all came with blackwall tires. The metal chassis had a friction motor on the front axle and was nearly identical to the 1953-1955 models. The notable difference is there were no screw holes at the front. The chassis should be attached to the body with 2 unfinished (natural steel) straight head screws at the rear.

Boxes: We currently have no definitive information on how these cars were packaged.

Note: There's no evidence that any of these cars were distributed through Chevrolet dealers. Therefore, they're technically not "promos". Many Corvette promo collectors actively collect these scale models.

Note: This marked the end of the PMC era as far as most promo collectors are concerned (although PMC did continue to make Corvette scale models through 1959/1960).
