Notes: In the "Stock" configuration, the 1959 SMP Corvette kit was very similar to a promo. The kit was molded in a different type of plastic that did not warp like the promos. This plastic is very susceptible to sun damage; many of these original kits now appear tan in color (they where off white from the factory). Although the chassis was not like the 1959 promos, it was similar to the 1960 Corvette (non-friction) dealer promos. Most of these kits came with separate wheels and hubcaps, but the unassembled kit pictured came with chrome wheels (just like the 1959 Corvette promos had). The kits are found in two different original boxes. The artwork was similar; one box depicted convertibles, the other had hardtops.
