2000The 2000 Corvette promos were manufactured by Revell. There were 3 different bodies styles offered this year: coupes, convertibles and hardtops. The convertible bodies were unchanged from the (Revell) 1999s. Other than the roof, the coupes and hardtops were very similar to the convertibles. The only notable difference was the convertible bodies had larger emblems on the nose and rear deck. The coupe emblems were smaller and molded into the body (with a decal applied overtop). The hardtop emblems were only decals (the body was smooth underneath the decals). All three body styles were molded as 1 piece of plastic with separate mirrors. The "2000" (or blank) rear license plate was a separate piece and glued to the body before it was painted (or clear coated). The convertible bodies were molded in white, black or yellow plastic. The white convertible bodies were painted either gold metallic or "Magnetic Red Metallic". The black and yellow convertible bodies were clear coated. The coupe bodies were molded in either black or white plastic. The white coupe bodies were painted gold metallic. The black coupe bodies were painted "Sebring Silver Metallic". The hardtop bodies were molded in either white or red plastic. The white hardtop bodies were either painted gold metallic or "Nassau Blue Metallic". The red hardtop bodies were clear coated, two-toned white and detailed as LeMans Pace Cars. These pace cars did not have the "2000" rear license plate. In its place was a red chevy bow-tie on a white background. There weren't any notable interior changes from the 1999 to 2000 Revell promos. The interior tub, seats, seat backs, dash, shifter, door panels and steering wheel were all separate pieces. These parts formed the interior assembly. The clear plastic windows and interior assembly were inserted into the underside of the body. The front license plate read "CORVETTE". The LeMans Pace Cars used the same style 5 spoke chrome wheels as the (Revell) 1999s. All the other 2000 Corvette promos had a new style chrome wheel. The wheels had 5 much thinner spokes and resembled the optional high polished wheels. These wheels had a flat disc attached to the backside that resembled a brake rotor (but there was no caliper). These brake rotors were gray on all cars except the "Magnetic Red Metallic" convertibles (which had chrome rotors). The blackwall tires had "GOODYEAR" "EAGLE F1" molded into the sidewall (all 1999-2003 Revell Corvette promos had the same style tire). The chassis was the same as the (Revell) 1999s, except it was printed "2000 CORVETTE" "USED UNDER LICENSE". The chassis was attached to the body with 4 black philips/straight head screws. Boxes: The 2000 Corvette promos came various boxes. The red convertibles, blue hardtops, silver coupes and LeMans Pace Cars came in blue window boxes. The black and yellow convertibles were private issue promos and came in white boxes with black artwork. The gold metallic cars came as a millennium 3 pack in a large blue window box. No matter which style box, the promo was wired to a cardboard tray inside. Note: The "Black" and "Millennium Yellow" 2000 Corvette convertible promos were not available at Chevrolet dealers nationwide. Note: The interiors of Revell C5 Corvette promos are very easy to interchange. This website shows all the factory interior/exterior combinations for 1999-2004 Revell Corvette Promos. Any combination not shown on this website was altered after it left the factory.
Note: Revell also made 2000 Corvette Snap Kits. These kits assembled just like promos. They're located in the "Snap Kits" section of this website |
