1993

The 1993 Corvette promos were manufactured by AMT-Ertl. There were both convertibles and ZR-1 coupes made in 1993. There weren't any notable convertible body changes from 1992 to 1993. The only change to the ZR-1 coupe bodies was the removal of the "ZR-1" emblems from both sides of the hood. Both body styles were molded as one piece of plastic with a separate hood. The underside of the hood had 2 plastic pins. These plastic pins slid into 2 alignment holes in the main body. There was a production change around 1/1/1993. The cars produced in late 1992 had the plastic pins melted to permanently attach the hood to the body. These cars had the 4 bright plated philips head chassis screws. The cars produced in early 1993 did not have the hood permanently attached. The hood was only held in place with the front chassis screws. These cars had 4 black philips head chassis screws. The ZR-1 coupe bodies were molded in either ruby red metallic or black rose metallic plastic and clear coated. All the convertible bodies were molded in ruby red metallic and clear coated. There were no interior changes from 1992 to 1993. The ZR-1 coupes had "sport seats" while the convertibles had standard seats. The interior tub, seats, dash, shifter and steering wheel were all separate pieces and not clear coated. These parts were glued together to form the interior assembly. The clear plastic windows and interior assembly were inserted into the underside of the body. The front grilles and side marker lights were black plastic. The tail lights were translucent red plastic. The rear license plate was molded into the rear bumper and read "1993". The front license plate read "CORVETTE". The wheels were the same style as 1991-1992 and had a bright chrome finish. The blackwall tires had "GOODYEAR" "EAGLE GS-C", the directional rotation and tire size molded into the sidewall. The convertible tires were P255/45ZR17 front and P285/40ZR17 rear. The ZR-1 coupe tires were P285/40ZR17 front and P315/35ZR17 rear. There were no chassis changes from 1992 to 1993.

Boxes: The 1993 Corvette promos came in white corrugated boxes with AMT-ERTL printed on 2 sides and instructions printed on one side. The boxes had a white label attached to the end. The label indicated the Ertl #, year, model and color. The boxes had a 4 digit number stamped on the side. This was the Julian date of manufacture (Example: "0413" = 41st day of 1993).

Note: The interiors of C4 Corvette promos are very easy to interchange. This website shows all the factory interior/exterior combinations for 1984-1996 Corvette Promos. Any combination not shown on this website was altered after it left the factory.
