1994The 1994 Corvette promos were manufactured by AMT-Ertl. There were both convertibles and ZR-1 coupes made in 1994. There weren't any notable body changes from 1993 to 1994. Both body styles were molded as one piece of plastic with a separate hood. The underside of the hood had 2 plastic pins. These plastic pins slid into 2 alignment holes in the main body. The hood was held in place with the front chassis screws. The ZR-1 coupe bodies were molded in blue metallic, red or brown plastic. The convertible bodies were molded in aqua metallic, dark green metallic or brown plastic. There were 2 versions of both brown ZR-1 coupe bodies and brown convertible bodies. One version had a rear license plate that read "1994". The other version had a blank rear license plate. All of these brown ZR-1 coupe and convertible bodies were painted Copper Metallic. None of the other body colors were painted (or clear coated). The notable interior changes from 1993 to 1994 include: the door panels and center console were updated, the steering wheel changed from 4 spokes to 2, the convertible seats were redesigned with fine horizontal pleats on the backrest and the ZR-1 coupe "sport seats" were redesigned with diagonal stitching. The interior tub, seats, dash, shifter and steering wheel were all separate pieces and not painted. These parts were glued together to form the interior assembly. The clear plastic windows and interior assembly were inserted into the underside of the body. Only the wheels were chrome plated. The front grilles and side marker lights were black plastic. The tail lights were translucent red plastic. The rear license plate was molded into the body and (except for some of the Copper Metallic cars) read "1994". The front license plate read "CORVETTE". The convertible wheels were the same style as 1991-1993. The ZR-1 coupes received a new 5 spoke wheel. The blackwall tires had "GOODYEAR" "EAGLE GS-C", the directional rotation and tire size molded into the sidewall. The convertible tires were P255/45ZR17 front and P285/40ZR17 rear. The ZR-1 coupe tires were P285/40ZR17 front and P315/35ZR17 rear. Both chassis were unchanged from the previous year and were attached to the body with 4 black philips head screws. Boxes: The 1994 Corvette promos came in white corrugated boxes with AMT-ERTL printed on 2 sides and instructions printed on one side. The boxes had a white label attached to the end. The label indicated the Ertl #, year, model and color. The boxes had a 4 digit number stamped on the side. This was the Julian date of manufacture (Example: "0384" = 38th day of 1994). Note: The 1994 "Copper Metallic" Corvette promos were not available at Chevrolet dealers nationwide. Note: The interiors of C4 Corvette promos are very easy to interchange. This website shows all the factory interior/exterior combinations for 1984-1996 Corvette Promos. Any combination not shown on this website was altered after it left the factory.
Note: There's an additional 1994 Corvette promo located in the "Test Shots" section of this website. |
