1969Original 1969 Corvette promos were manufactured by AMT (Aluminum Model Toys, Inc.). This was a change from the previous year (MPC made the 1968s). Therefore, the promos were significantly different (although they appeared very similar). The 1969 Corvette promos were made in both Coupes and Convertibles. The bodies were molded as one piece of plastic and were unique to 1969. The coupe bodies were molded in various shades of yellow plastic and were not painted. The convertible bodies were molded in red plastic and not painted. The interior tub, seats, dash and steering wheel were all separate pieces and not painted. These interior parts were glued together to make the interior assembly. The interior assembly and clear plastic windows were inserted underneath the body over 2 plastic pins. These plastic pins were then melted to hold the interior and windows in place. The promos had chrome rear bumpers, front bumper/grille, wheels and rear license plate. The tail lights were translucent red plastic. The front and rear license plates both read "1969". The wheels resembled rally wheels with center caps and trim rings. The tires had narrow whitewalls (1962 to 1967 and 1969 Corvette promos had the same style tire). The chassis was attached to the body with 2 bright plated straight head screws with spiral threads. Boxes: The dealer promos were packaged in white boxes with blue artwork. These dealer boxes were stamped on the end with "CORVETTE H.T." "MEADOWDALE YELLOW" or "CORVETTE CONV." "ASTRO RED". The non-dealer promos were packaged in green boxes with a rectangular cellophane window. This non-dealer box was stamped with "VETTE. HT. W995" and may have a cardboard tray inside to keep the car properly positioned. Dealer Promos

Note: There were red 1969 Corvette Coupe bodies manufactured by MPC. These bodies were made exclusively for MPC "Dyno-Racer" sets. Most collectors do not consider these to be promos. The "Dyno-Racer" bodies and interiors were molded exactly like an MPC promo would have been. But, MPC didn't make the 1969 Corvette promos, AMT did. The MPC "Dyno-Racer" came with a heavy metal chassis. This metal chassis could very easily be replaced with a red plastic chassis from a 1968, 1971 or 1972 Corvette promo to create a very convincing "promo". MPC Dyno-Racers
