1974

Original 1974 Corvette promos were manufactured by MPC (Model Products Corporation). All of the 1974 Corvette promos were coupes. The notable body changes from 1973 to 1974 include: there was an alarm system keyhole added to the left front fender, the chrome rear bumpers were replaced with a body colored integrated bumper, the "crossed flags" emblem on fuel door was removed and the rear side marker lights were enlarged. The bodies were molded as one piece of red or orange plastic with a separate front bumper. None of the red bodies were painted. All of the orange bodies were painted "Corvette Orange Metallic". There were no interior changes from 1973 to 1974. The interior tub, seats, dash and steering wheel were all separate pieces and not painted. These interior parts and a chrome shifter were glued together to make the interior assembly. The interior assembly and clear plastic windows were inserted underneath the body over 2 plastic pins. These plastic pins were then melted to hold the interior and windows in place. They had chrome front grilles, shifter and wheels. The tail lights were translucent red plastic. The rear license plate was molded into the body and it read "1974". The wheels resembled rally wheels with center caps and trim rings. The blackwall tires had "GOODYEAR" "F60-15" "POLYGLAS GT" "BELTED" molded into the sidewall (all 1971-1974 Corvette promos had the same style tire). The chassis was like the 1973s and attached to the body with 4 bright plated straight head screws with spiral threads.

Boxes: Most of the 1974 Corvette promos came in white boxes with red and blue artwork. Some cars came in plain white boxes. All 1974 boxes had "74 CORVETTE" and the body color stamped on the end.
