1972

Original 1972 Corvette promos were manufactured by MPC (Model Products Corporation). There weren't any notable body or interior changes from 1971 to 1972. All of the 1972 Corvette promos were coupes. The bodies were molded as one piece of red or gold plastic with a separate front valance. None of the red bodies were painted. Nearly all of the gold bodies were painted "War Bonnet Yellow Metallic". The interior tub, seats, dash and steering wheel were all separate pieces and not painted. These interior parts were glued together to make the interior assembly. The interior assembly and clear plastic windows were inserted underneath the body over 2 plastic pins. These plastic pins were then melted to hold the interior and windows in place. The promos had chrome rear bumpers, front bumper/grille and wheels. The tail lights were translucent red plastic. The rear license plate was molded into the body and it read "1972". The front license plate was part of the chrome front bumper/grille and it also read "1972". The wheels resembled rally wheels with center caps and trim rings. The blackwall tires had "GOODYEAR" "F60-15" "POLYGLAS GT" "BELTED" molded into the sidewall (all 1971-1974 Corvette promos had the same style tire). The chassis was like the 1968s and 1971s. It was attached to the body with 3 bright plated straight head screws with spiral threads.

Boxes: Most 1972 Corvette promos came in white boxes with pink and orange artwork. Some cars came in plain white boxes. The end of the box was stamped with "1972 CORVETTE" and the body color. Correct original boxes for red cars were stamped with "MILLE MIGLIA" or "MLLE MIGLIA RED".
