1970Original issue 1970 Corvette promos were manufactured by AMT (Aluminum Model Toys, Inc.). The 1970 Corvette promos were made in both Coupes and Convertibles. The bodies were molded as one piece of plastic and were unique to 1970. The notable body changes from the 1969s include: the "427" hood emblems were replaced with "454" emblems, the 4 vertical vents in the lower front fenders were replaced with checked grills, and the exhaust tips were changed from round to rectangular. These bodies were molded in either maroon or blue plastic. The maroon bodies were painted "Marlboro Maroon Metallic". The blue bodies were painted "Bridgehampton Blue Metallic". The seats were changed from the low back 1969 style (with separate headrest) to a high back design with an integrated headrest. There was a hole added to the console to accommodate a shifter (but there was no shifter). The interior tub, seats, dash and steering wheel were all separate pieces and were painted black. These interior parts were glued together to make the interior assembly. The interior assembly and clear plastic windows were inserted underneath the body over 2 plastic pins. These plastic pins were then melted to hold the interior and windows in place. The promos had chrome rear bumpers, front bumper/grille and wheels. The tail lights were translucent red plastic. This is the first year that the rear license plate was molded into the body and it read "USA-1" in small type. The front license plate was part of the chrome front bumper/grille and it also read "USA-1" in small type. The wheels resembled rally wheels with center caps and trim rings. The blackwall tires were a new wider design that had "GOODYEAR" "G70-14" "BELTED" "CUSTOM WIDE TREAD POLYGLAS" molded into the sidewall. These tires were unique to the 1970 models. The chassis was nearly identical to the 1969 models. The notable difference was the absence of 2 holes at the rear. The chassis was attached to the body with glue at the rear. Boxes: The 1970 Corvette promos came in white boxes with blue artwork. The end of the box was stamped with either "CORVETTE H.T." "BLUE" or "CORVETTE CONV." "RED". There should be a "CHEVROLET SPORTS DEPARTMENT" shield type paper sticker inside the box. This sticker also came with 1970 Camaro Dealer promos and some AMT kits. Original Issue Dealer Promos
