1973Original 1973 Corvette promos were manufactured by MPC (Model Products Corporation). All of the 1973 Corvette promos were coupes. The notable body changes from 1972 to 1973 include: the lower front fenders were changed from a checked grill design to one large vent, the hood was redesigned and extended back to the windshield, the chrome front bumper was replaced with a body colored integrated bumper, the "crossed flags" emblem on the nose was changed to a large round emblem and the front side marker lights were enlarged. The bodies were molded as one piece of yellow or blue plastic with a separate front bumper. None of the yellow bodies were painted. All of the blue bodies were painted "Medium Blue Metallic". There were no interior changes from 1972 to 1973. The interior tub, seats, dash and steering wheel were all separate pieces and not painted. These interior parts and a chrome shifter were glued together to make the interior assembly. The interior assembly and clear plastic windows were inserted underneath the body over 2 plastic pins. These plastic pins were then melted to hold the interior and windows in place. The promos had chrome rear bumpers, front grilles, shifter and wheels. The tail lights were translucent red plastic. The rear license plate was molded into the body and it read "1973". The wheels resembled rally wheels with center caps and trim rings. The blackwall tires had "GOODYEAR" "F60-15" "POLYGLAS GT" "BELTED" molded into the sidewall (all 1971-1974 Corvette promos had the same style tire). The chassis was nearly identical to the 1968s, 1971s and 1972s. The notable difference was there were 2 holes at the front instead of 1. The chassis was attached to the body with 4 bright plated straight head screws with spiral threads. Boxes: Most 1973 Corvette promos came in white boxes with red and blue artwork. Some cars came in plain white boxes. The end of the box was stamped with "73 CORVETTE" and the body color.
